The staff and leadership here at Hope Crossing is comprised of men and women who love, care, and pray for every single person in the church.   • Matt Ellis

    Lead Pastor and Elder

    Matt grew up in Huntington Beach, CA, and has been in Denver since following his parents here in 1995. 


    He has been married to his wife, Carrie for 16 years, and they have 3 sons: Jonas (14), Josiah (12), and Judah (9). 


    Matt has a bachelor's degree in Youth and Family Ministries from Colorado Christian University, as well as a Master's in Leadership from Denver Seminary. 


    Matt's role as Lead Pastor is to train and equip God's people in the work of the ministry. He loves seeing men become godly husbands and fathers, as well as families passionately following Jesus together.


    Random fact: He once ate iguana.

Matt holds an M.A. in Leadership from Denver Seminary, and has been faithfully leading HCC since 2009.He and his wife, Carrie, have three boys ages 14, 12, and 9, and have been married for 16 years.

  • Niko Rolon

    Children's Ministry Director/Pastoral Intern

    Niko is from St. Charles, IL, and has been in Denver since 2014. He has a bachelor's degree in Theology from Colorado Christian University, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Divinity from Denver Seminary. 


    Niko oversees our children's ministry, and loves teaching kids about Jesus and His love for them. He is also our Pastoral Intern, and occasionally preaches sermons when Matt lets him.


    Niko is recently engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Kimmy, and they will tie the knot in September of 2019.


    Random fact: Although he grew up in Illinois, he is a huge Boston Red Sox fan.

    Casey has been leading the worship team since our church was formed and continues to bring her boundless enthusiasm to our services. Her leadership and love for the arts has helped our ministry grow and flourish for over a decade. 

  • Jennifer Sword

    Church Administrator

    Jennifer is from Phoenix, AZ, and has lived in Denver with her husband, Frank and their two daughters, Violet (12) and Poppy (10) for 11 years. 


    She joined the Hope Crossing team as the Office Administrator in 2018, and loves the diversity, kindness, and closeness of the congregation.


     Random fact: She hung out with Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac for a week in the mid-nineties.

    Jennifer joined the church staff in August of 2018, and had been attending Hope Crossing Church with her family since July of 2017. Her role at HCC involves

  • Paul Schumann

    Elder

    Paul is from Manhattan, KS, and is an alum of both Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College.


    He and his wife of almost 47 years, Cynthia, met in high school and are parents to two biological children and nine adopted ones.


    Paul's roles as Hope Crossing include teaching the adult Sunday School class on Sunday mornings, playing bass in the worship band, and serving as an Elder.


    Random fact: People may not know that on birthdays ending in 0 (30, 40, 50, 60) he intentionally has a mid-life crisis. Feel free to ask him what they were!

  • Marc Stewart

    Elder

    Marc has lived in Colorado for 45 years, and counts climbing most of the state's 14'ers as one of his greatest accomplishments. 


    He has been married to his wife, Kristen, for 24 years, and together they have two sons: Dawson (21) and Davis (18). 


    Marc sits on the board of HCC as an elder, and is a valued part of every major decision the church makes.


    Random fact: He has ridden his bike tens of thousands of miles across the U.S.
